Pharmacology
Benzimidazole anti-worm drugs. Albendazole has a broad-spectrum anthelmintic effect. The anthelmintic spectrum includes nematodes, tapeworms and trematodes, and is ineffective against schistosomes. The mechanism of action of albendazole is mainly through binding to the tubulin of sensitive insects, preventing it from multimerizing with α-tubulin to assemble into microtubules, thereby affecting the mitosis, protein assembly and energy metabolism of
somatic cells. Cell reproduction process. Albendazole is well absorbed by oral administration, and the albendazole that enters the body is quickly metabolized into sulfoxide (the main active metabolite for deworming) and sulfone.
Twenty hours after administration, the metabolites albendazole sulfoxide and albendazole sulfone reached peak plasma concentrations. The half-lives of sulfoxide metabolites in cattle, sheep, pigs, and chickens were 20.5, 7.7
-9.0, 5.9 and 4.3 hours, and the half-lives of sulfoxide metabolites were 11.6, 11.8, 9.2 and 2.5 hours, respectively.
